ABOUT THE FIRM

Jill Lewis Smith founded Civic Inc. in early 1999. Then known as Jill Lewis Smith Architect Inc. the small firm operated under the guiding principle that client service and communication lead to successful project delivery.

This committment to service and quality design along with Jill's experience as City Architect for Louisville, Kentucky, helped to grow the firm over subsequent years. At this time, Jill served as president of the Kentucky Board of Architects (a board on which she continues to serve today), and was named Town Architect for the high profile New Urbanism development Norton Commons in Prospect, Kentucky.

Through the years, Civic Consultants formally as Jill Lewis Smith Architect inc. applied our strict attention to detail and design to a number of municipal projects, including the Breckinridge County Justice Center and Breckinridge County Public Library. Civic also contributed to the planning for Liberty Green, the ambitious Hope VI development in downtown Louisville. Jill served as Architect of Record on the Liberty Green Community Center, the first public building in Kentucky to receive LEED Silver Certificaion.

As the new name implies, Civic's services are not limited to architecture, but also include interior design, construction administration, and a number of other services.
